How To Clean Your Germ-Filled Phone

Bacteria and microorganisms can be good for us—to an extent.

When it comes to our phones and other technology we’re using every day, it’s important to be aware of what we’re doing to stay clean and clear of sickness from these germs.

Our devices are covered in an invisible layer of bacteria, however most of those bacteria are no threat to you.

Keep in mind that germs that can make you sick are out there. And because many of us touch our phones while we eat meals, you should take extra precaution when it comes to these devices.

Numerous studies have been conducted in recent years, and the results show that your phone is a breeding ground for germs and it’s dirtier than a toilet seat. A few of the standout germs that could be lurking on your phone include E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus. GROSS!

Illness-causing germs, including the types that cause food poisoning, common colds, and other infections only cause us to become sick if they somehow enter our body.

Some caution: Cleaning your device can be difficult, and you want to make sure you don’t damage your phone or device. When you do clean, make sure you’re careful and conscientious.

What to do? Regularly wiping down your device with a microfiber cloth can help to eliminate many kinds of common bacteria.

Doesn’t feel like enough? Try disinfecting with alcohol and water! Keep in mind that Apple and other phone device manufacturers warn against using any kind of cleaner that is not a microfiber cloth. Consider the risks before putting any liquids on your device.

Want something on the go? I love these two brands of antibacterial wipes – both are safe for phones and screens!

Have a case for your phone? Don’t forget to clean it—and underneath it—too!

Another great tip? Wash hands frequently! Washing your hands regularly with soap keeps your phone cleaner—because guess where most of those phone germs come from?
